(Des Moines)– Governor Kim Reynolds has expanded a disaster proclamation to include Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Lyon, and Palo Alto counties. The original proclamation, issued Tuesday, was for O’Brien, Osceola and Sioux counties.
The proclamation clears the way for the affected counties to have access to state resources to assist in recovery efforts. That includes the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program. More information on the programs can be found on the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management website.
The new proclamation is effective immediately and will expire on August 29th, 2025. It’s in response to a derecho that brought 80 to 90 mph wind through a wide swath of northwest Iowa, causing extensive damage in many areas.
