Disaster Loans Available To Several NW Ia Counties

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– The U.S. Small Business Administration announced today (Thursday) it’s making diaster assistance loans available to a number of northwest Iowa counties impacted by severe weather last month.

Locally, the assistance is available in Buena Vista, Clay, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties.

Loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.

Businesses of any size and private, non-profit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets.

Additional funds may also be available to assist homeowners and businesses with making improvements that protect, prevent or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future.

Those eligible to apply in the affected counties can do so by contacting an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the Varina American Legion Hall. The center is open Wednesday, May 11th, May 18th and May 25th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Applications are also available on-line at disasterloan.sba.gov/ela, or by calling 1-800-659-2955.
