(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors earlier this week approved an agreement with the city of Spirit Lake that will allow a long awaited road project to get underway next year.
The supervisors approved a deal that will allow the city to delay paying its share of reconstructing Peoria Avenue until the 2011 fiscal year. The city was requesting the arrangement due to its financial situation.
The city’s share of the project will come to about 286-thousand dollars. The project has a total estimated cost of slightly more than 1.8 million dollars.
A bidletting is set for January 21st. Construction is slated for the upcoming construction season.
Eckert told the supervisors there were three options: either approve the delayed cost sharing agreement; postpone the project yet another time; or for the county to make improvements to only that part of the road that’s in its jurisdiction.
