(Spirit Lake)– Efforts to extend a recreational trail along the former Iowa Northwestern Railroad right-of-way between Spirit Lake and Harris are getting a financial boost from the state.
The Iowa Transportation Commission Tuesday awarded nearly $596,000 for the first two phases of the project from the D.O.T’s rail bank program.
The project is a joint effort involving the Dickinson and Osceola County Conservation Boards.
A proposed timeframe for the project hasn’t been publicly announced.
