(Spirit Lake)—The Dickinson County Water Quality Commission is accepting grant applications for it annual water quality grant period until October 1st. Grant applications and more information can be found at the Cleanwater Alliance website or by contacting the Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District office at 336-3782, extension 3.
The Water Quality Commission will hold a help session for applicants August 29th.
Applications will be accepted for any project from a non-profit organization or governmental agency which improves the water quality of the Iowa Great Lakes, Silver Lake and Little Swan Lake in Dickinson county. Cities or the county governments who are members of the agreement are not eligible to apply, but groups within those entities are eligible.
To date more than $2 million has been granted to groups and agencies in Dickinson county for water quality protection. That money has been matched by over $20 million.
The Dickinson County Water Quality Commission includes members from all the cities and the county government from within Dickinson county. Each city and the county contribute to the commission annually and have representatives on the commission.
