Dickinson County Supervisors Vote 3-2 To Nullify Compensation Board Recommendation

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– With one exception, Dickinson county elected officials will not be getting a pay increase in the upcoming fiscal year.

The board of supervisors voted three-to-two Tuesday to nullify a recommendation from the Compensation Board that called for a two percent across-the-board pay raise for elected officials.

Supervisors Wayne Northey, Paul Johnson and Mardi Allen voted in favor of the motion rejecting the Comp Board’s recommendation, while Supervisor Chairman David Gottsche and Pam Jordan voted against the motion.

There’s one exception to that, however. The County Attorney’s salary is mandated by state law. Under the provision, the salary for that position is based on 45 percent of the annual salary for district judges. County Attorney Rosalise Olson had requested no pay increase if employees didn’t get raises either.
