Dickinson County Supervisors Review Annual TIF Report

September 05, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors this (Tues.) morning heard an annual update from Auditor Lori Petersen about the county’s tax increment finance districts. Petersen says the county only has two of them on the books as of now…

“East Okoboji Beach, that has a pay off of $1,509,380 and the DC-Spirit Lake which is a dual with the city of Spirit Lake, that’s the property, the CFE property that’s adjacent to where the old elevator was, and that has a pay off of $301,305. So with that being said, East Okoboji Beach Urban Renewal will be paid off in May of 2030 and the other debt associated with that is paid off in may of ’29 and DC-Spirit Lake, the pay off on that one is in June of ’26.”

Petersen also gave an update on the county’s low to moderate income housing funds as part of the same report…

“We did expend $240,000 of those LMI funds to put towards a Habitat for Humanity project.”

The information will be included as part of an annual report to the state of Iowa.
