Dickinson County Supervisors, P & Z, Hold Joint Work Session

February 20, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors and the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission held a joint work session this (Tues.) afternoon to iron out proposed revisions to conditional use permits pertaining primarily to wind turbines and to better define some language in a proposed hazardous pipeline ordinance. It comes after last week’s action by the supervisors that sent the matters back to the Planning and Zoning Commission for the additional revisions following public hearings.

Most of the revisions discussed today (Tues.) pertained to setback requirements for both wind turbines and pipelines, along with proposed regulations dealing with noise, shadow flicker and notification processes specifically for wind turbines, in addition to establishing protocol for investigating complaints.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold public hearings on the proposed revisions for conditional uses for wind turbines as well as the pipeline ordinance on March 18th. What’s expected to be a day long meeting will begin at 10:00 am that morning at the Dickinson County Courthouse.
