Dickinson County Supervisors Approve FY 2012 Budget

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors today (Tues.) adopted the budget for the 2012 fiscal year following a public hearing that drew a few questions, but no opposition.

Both the rural and countywide levies are remaining pretty much unchanged from the current fiscal year’s budget. County officials site an increase in taxable valuation as a major factor behind that, along with a boost in re-evaluations on land with wind turbines and a decreased debt service.

Having said that, supervisors are concerned over several uncertainties in the budget, including what impact state cuts will have, along with a predicted loss of revenues from the Local Option Sales Tax, Hotel/Motel Tax, interest on investments and departmental revenues.

There’s also concern over the impact any roll back on commercial properties being considered by the state would have.
