(Spirit Lake)– A couple of heavily traveled roads in Dickinson county will be out of commission for awhile this coming summer. The Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a bid of a little more than $4.7 million dollars for the combined projects. Dickinson County Engineer Jeff Rose…
“The first project is along M-56 on the east side of East Lake. It’s going to start at Highway 71 and 9 and continues south down to County Road A-34. That road will consist of an asphalt mill and an asphalt overlay.”
Rose adds a portion of that road through a residential area just east of Highways 9 & 71 will be widened to improve safety.
He says the other project is on the west side of the county…
“The other project on the west side of the county is on M-34 between A-34 and A-22. That project will consist of what we call a rock inner lay. A layer of rock will be put down before an asphalt pavement be put over top of it.”
Rose says detours will be in place for both projects…
“M-56 we’re going to use 160th and 270th Avenue as a detour to get around that area, and M-34 we’ll just use local roads to get around that area.”
Blacktop services of Humboldt will be the general contractor on both projects, which have an early start date of this coming June 15th.
Rose says the projects were combined into one bid package in an effort to get a better price for the county.
