Dickinson County Supervisors Approve Agreement For Hwy 86 Project

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday (5/8) approved a transfer of jurisdiction agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation. County Engineer Dan Eckert tells KUOO news it’s for the northerly portion of the currently existing Highway 86 near the Iowa/Minnesota border…(Click here to hear comment from Eckert…)

Eckert says it’s his understanding construction on the project is still scheduled for 2013…(Click here to hear comment from Eckert…)

The transfer of jurisdiction agreement will become effective upon completion of the project.

Another project that will have a high impact on traffic is the re-surfacing of Highway 71 between Spencer and Milford. It’s scheduled for later THIS summer. Eckert says a pre-construction meeting will be held Wednesday (5/9) in Cherokee, at which time they’ll find out when construction is to get underway.

Eckert says motorists in that area will experience significant delays as traffic will be limited to one lane, both north and south bound, head-to-head. He says a contractor has already started to move in equipment for the project.
