Dickinson County Snowhawks to hold Vintage Show and Shine January 20

January 18, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Milford)-The Dickinson County Snowhawks are holding a special event this weekend. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Dickinson County Snowhawks will hold a Vintage Show and Shine at Oak Hill Outdoor on Saturday.
Publicity Director Jantina Carney says the show will feature a special vintage snowmobile. “It’ll be happening at Oak Hill Outdoor this Saturday from 10 until 3. We kind of expect a pretty good turn out, we’ve been getting a lot of great response from people. You know, we haven’t had a lot of snow this year, so us snowmobilers, we’re kind of anxious to get out and do something. So, this event should bring out some really nice vintage snowmobiles and we’ve got a really special one coming from Fulda, Minnesota. It’s owned by Leo Voss and Gina Lemley. It was built in 1956. It’s a Polaris Sno-Traveler. There were only 13 of them built that year and this is serial number 4. Crazy or not, it only went 5 to 8 miles per hour and no brakes, but it is beautiful and it is worth just coming down to see.”
She adds that a silent auction will benefit a scholarship fund during the show. “This last July, one of our club members, Randy Loerch, who worked at the Spirit Lake School for many, many years, he passed away in a motorcycle accident. We’re doing a silent auction from noon to 3, with all benefits from this silent auction going to a scholarship fund that was set up in Randy’s name.”
Admission to the show is free and open to the public.
