(Spirit Lake)-The Dickinson County Snowhawks are raising funds for their new snow groomer. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Dickinson County Snowhawks will hold a fundraiser and membership drive on Friday afternoon.
Publicity Director Jantina Carney says the snowmobile club has a new groomer. “This fall, at the State Convention, we were told that we were going to be getting a new groomer for our county. It is a brand new 2022 Prinoth, which is the best of the best when it comes to grooming. We were very fortunate to be selected by the Review & Selection Committee, which is a division of the Iowa State Snowmobile Association, to partner up with them to purchase this piece of equipment. It’s a $265,000 machine and our portion of it as a club is $65,000.”
She adds that the public is invited to stop by Ducky’s Marine for the event. “We’ll be there from 3-5. You can purchase your membership there as well, which for a family membership is $35, and we have probably 25 local businesses that help support our club and give member discounts to our club. I just encourage anybody that uses our trails to consider donating to our club. We are a 501(c)(3), so we are a nonprofit organization. Any bit helps, whether it’s $10 or $10,000, we’ll take any of it and all of it. We’ve got 2 years to raise our funds and we’re hoping this weekend we’ll have a lot of people that donate. Even if you just use the trails one time, a small $10 donation will go a long way.”
Donations may also be make on the club’s website.
