(Spirit Lake)– A longtime staffer at the Dickinson County Courthouse will be retiring at the end of the month.
Dickinson County Recorder Jan Bortscheller will be retiring effective June 30th. When asked about her decision, Bortscheller told KUOO news “It’s time”.
Bortscheller has held the position a little more than 22 years. She says the day-to-day contact with the public is what she’s going to miss most…(click here for comment from Bortscheller).

Bortscheller says she looks forward to spending more time with her family and to “simply enjoy life”.
The board of supervisors Tuesday accepted Bortscheller’s letter of resignation. They directed Assistant County Attorney Lonnie Saunders to look into the process of coming up with a replacement to fill what’s left of Bortscheller’s term, which expires December 31st, 2014.
