Dickinson County Nature Center to offer No School Camp March 29th

March 20, 2024 Becky Thoreson

(Okoboji)-Registration is open for a No School Camp at the Dickinson County Nature Center. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

The Dickinson County Nature Center is offering a No School Camp on March 29th for students in 5th through 8th grades.
Community Relation Coordinator Amy Heibult says, a number of nature-related activities are planned. “We’re doing some fun activities like fire building, learning how to build those fires for camping season coming up here. We’re also going to be making prairie seed bombs. Those will be launched into our prairie, so it’s a way of getting the seed out there. Kids will also get to make their own chap stick for the summer season, and there’s going to also be a community service project that’s involved on-site here at Kenue Park regarding our gardening and landscape area, as well as some of our prairie area. So, we’re really looking forward to having kids out and learning some new skills for the summer.”
She notes that registration closes on March 27th. “They can head on out to our website at dickinsoncountyconservationboard.com and head on over to our programs and events page . There they can find the camp if they scroll down a little ways, click the register button. If they have any questions they can give us a call at 712.336.6352.”

The cost of the camp is $15.
