Dickinson County Nature Center To Host Special Event For Teens

March 19, 2026

(Okoboji)– The first Wild Roots program for teens will be held on March 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Dickinson County Nature Center Community Relations Coordinator Amy Heibult says the event is themed around wilderness and leadership development…

There’s going to be an escape room style event for teens. So we’re calling it Spring Soiree. And can you park? And teens will be taking on the challenge of solving puzzles and having to communicate in an outdoor kind of experience of escaping the trail. So they have a really fun program planned. We aim to have this program foster relationships, also teach outdoor recreation and land steward stewardship skills, and also develop leadership qualities. So it’s a really good time for teens to kind of step out of their comfort zone, but also kind of meet new friends, hang out with some of their familiar friends, and enjoy time outdoors and away from those screens, as we always like to say. And we also have several opportunities throughout the year as the series continues.”

Registration is required. The deadline is by 5:00 pm this Friday, March 20th. You can register at
