Dickinson County Moving Forward With Drainage Notification System

March 10, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson County Supervisors Tuesday heard an update on a new tool being put together that will notify anyone who purchases property in the county on whether or not the land lies within a drainage district. A number of county departments are involved in developing the notification system, including Recorder Ann Ditsworth, who’s office will send out the notices…

“It will include the name. It will say it’s coming from the county and it’s just a notice that says your property is in a drainage district. In time, if there’s other things you need to add to that, it allows for, you know, you can improve it.”

County officials say the system is intended to help those purchasing real estate avoid any unpleasant surprises. The supervisors Tuesday authorized the departments to continue their work on the project, which includes detailed mapping of the county’s drainage districts and tile systems.
