Dickinson County Looking For New County Engineer

September 10, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson County is looking for a new County Engineer. Cole Budach has presented a 30 day notice of termination of his contract to the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors meeting. Budach is going to work as the County Engineer in Clay county…

“I didn’t make this decision lightly. It’s certainly going to be new going down there but it knocks off about 200 hours a year and 10,000 miles on my commute to move one county south, so I think that’s definitely, I guess, required due consideration and after looking at pros and cons and all of that stuff, I did decide to make that move.”

Budach thanked the Board of Supervisors at their meeting today (Tues.) for their support over the past several years during his tenure.

Budach began as the Assistant County engineer in 2022 and was promoted to County engineer last year when Dan Eckert retired.  Eckert, meanwhile, is serving as interim engineer in Clay County after William Rabenberg left for the Minnesota D.O.T. earlier this summer.
