Dickinson County Has A New Victim Witness Coordinator

December 22, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county has a new victim witness coordinator. The Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved the hiring of Reggie Van Lenning to the position. Interim County Attorney Steve Goodlow told the supervisors Van Lenning is a natural fit…

“She has been a CAASA worker so a lot of the more serious crimes we have right now, the victims, she has been working with them here in Dickinson county already, so it’s not going to be much of a change or shift for some of those victims we’re already working with because she was already working with them.”

Goodlow added the $45,000 salary for the position will come from the County Attorney’s budget from here on out. He says in the past that had been largely funding through a grant…

“Previously the budget was about 40 percent, 50 percent, not even 50 percent, funded by a grant. That grant we’re informed is now competitive and is shrinking. Also with the acceptance of that grant, it limits our Victim Witness Coordinator as to what other things they can do to help all of us out in the County Attorney’s Office.”

The position of victim witness coordinator has been vacant since Kathy Hanson resigned nearly two months ago.
