(Spirit Lake)– Demand continued to grow at Dickinson county food pantries over the past month. Kim Wermersen represents the Board of Supervisors on the Dickinson County Hunger Coalition. He says one pantry even set a record this past month…
“The Lake Park pantry set a record for the number of people getting food, 61 families, 122 people. The Milford pantry had 45 households, 70 people. Good News continues to be very busy. They are desperately in need of volunteers, so if anyone is interested in helping there touch base with them. Spirit Life was around 100 clients. Upper Des Moines continues to be very busy. They were closed for a week to do some inhouse work and that affected some of these other pantries we believe.”
Wermersen says they’re continuing to work on ways to get the word out about the Dickinson County Hunger Coalition. He says there’s a surprising number of people that don’t know about the group or what they do.
