(Spirit Lake)– $85,000 in funds previously designated by Dickinson county to assist in the battle against Eurasian watermilfoil on the Iowa Great Lakes will come from the county’s American Rescue Plan Act, or “ARPA” funds.
The Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) gave their authorization to proceed with that after a county committee that oversees how “ARPA” funds are to be spent gave its approval.
The supervisors voted several weeks ago in favor of the county contributing $85,000 toward the purchase of herbicide to treat infestations of eurasian watermilfoil in East Lake Okoboji, Upper and Lower Gar and Minnewashta. Several lakes area protective associations and the Dickinson County Taxpayers Association are also contributing funds to the effort.
