Dickinson County Conservation Foundation Holds Annual Meeting

(Okoboji)—The Conservation Foundation of Dickinson County held its annual meeting Monday evening at the Dickinson County Nature Center. Ron Williams, the foundation’s President, tells KUOO news the group plays an important role is to oversee contributions that are made to various conservation and outdoor recreation venues…(click here for comment.)

“The primary purpose of the Dickinson County Conservation Foundation is to hold private monies that might be donated to the county Conservation Board. It extends a little bit beyond the Nature Center to other county Conservation Board activities within Dickinson county. It can also extend to other public and private owned interests that involve natural resources, conservation, recreation, outdoor recreation in the county area.”

In addition to an election of board members, last (Mon.) evening’s meeting was also an opportunity to bring foundation members up to date with various projects it’s been involved in over the past year. Williams says there’s one in particular in which the foundation has played a critical role…(click here for comment.) “Probably the biggest project we’ve got going on right now is the landscaping project around the nature center. That is well along in its process and we’re looking forward to it being completed pretty soon. We welcome folks to come out and take a look. It’s going to improve the exterior around the nature center a great deal and make it much more useful and popular to be around.”

The foundation was also instrumental in raising funds for the osprey camera at the Dickinson County Nature Center.
