Dickinson Co. Supervisors Table Action On Some Board/Commission Appointments

January 03, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– This being the first meeting of the new year, the supervisors were scheduled today (Tues.) to approve appointments to various boards and commissions. While they did approve re-appointments to the Board of Health, they opted to table action on several others, including the Eminent Domain Commission. Supervisor Tim Fairchild said that body in particular will become very important in the very near future, given the upcoming carbon pipeline projects. He said he wants to make sure those commissions are more thoroughly vetted. Fairchild added he knows at least one member of one commission who no longer even lives in Dickinson county…

“Don’t you think it would be a good idea that we just sit down, at least three of us or two of us, sit down and go through and at least make sure these are all alive and in Dickinson county and want to be on it? Because, I mean, yeah, I just think it’s important that we get these right. They’re not wrong, I’m not saying that and I appreciate what Jordan’s done here, but I think we should pay some attention to this committee, or these committees.”

The matter will come back to the supervisors at their meeting next week.
