Dickinson Co Supervisors Approve Drainage District Annexation On Four To One Vote

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)—The Dickinson county board of supervisors voted four-to-one Tuesday to approve a proposal to annex land on the north side of Lake Park into Drainage District 6. Supervisor Paul Johnson cast the lone no vote expressing concern over the matter.

The supervisors took the action following a public hearing that drew comment and concern from several who were in attendance. They wondered why their property or land was being included and how assessments would be determined.

Officials say now that the annexation has been approved the next step is to form a committee that will determine how assessments will be arrived at for each affected property owner.

Officials say storm water from the affected area has been feeding into the drainage district which in turn has been causing issues with increased maintenance of tile and other structures.
