Dickinson Co. Supervisor Wants To Renew Talks About A Dangerous Road

May 10, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Talks over improving a dangerous road between Spirit Lake and Okoboji may be gaining some new life. Dickinson County Supervisor Jeff Thee informed fellow board members today (Tues.) of a recent meeting he had with County Engineer Dan Eckert regarding the curve at Parks Marina, or where 245th Avenue and 175th Street meet…

“It had come up a few years ago and Dan and I discussed that and kind of the road blocks were from a couple of different areas. But we’re planning to meet with Gregg over at Spirit Lake City Hall and then Mike Meyer at Okoboji City Hall. Because evidently there’s federal dollars that are available and so we’re going to just revisit it, see what those entities, what their thoughts on it are, and possibly start looking closer at it. But any way, just had that initial conversation.”

The cities of Spirit Lake, Okoboji and Dickinson county have jurisdiction over certain segments of the road.

The curve at Parks Marina has had a history of accidents over the years.
