Dickinson Co. Supervisor Says Provisions Are In Place With Impending Closure Of A Recycling Drop-Off Site

June 11, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county will still be meeting requirements for recycling even once a drop-off location in Orleans closes in just a few weeks, as that community transitions to curbside pickup. Supervisor Kim Wermersen represents the Board of Supervisors on the county’s Recycling Commission. Unincorporated residents had also been using the Orleans drop-off which will no longer exist after June 30th

“We are meeting our requirements for recycling because every community is doing curbside. We as a county have to provide one site for recycling. We actually now have four. One in Lake Park, one in Terril, one in Superior, one in Arnolds Park. We are in discussions with the landfill about perhaps having an additional drop site there for cardboard, at least, as that seems to be the biggest culprit. But going forward, the Orleans site July 1 will be closed.”

Wermersen gave the update at today’s (Tues.) Board of Supervisors meeting.
