(Spirit Lake)– It’s going to be awhile before proposed revisions to a Dickinson County Zoning ordinance pertaining to conditional uses, primarily for wind turbines, goes back to the Board of Supervisors for consideration.
The county’s Planning and Zoning Commission this (Monday) afternoon reviewed some proposed additions and revisions following another public hearing on the matter. They include things such as fire suppression in turbines and how damage to any neighboring land would be addressed and the possibility of relaxed setbacks of turbines on land owned by participating landowners. Commission members will also research possible special setbacks from bodies of water, including the Iowa Great Lakes. That’s to name just a few of the items up for review. That information will come back to the Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission at their next meeting, set for 1:00 pm Monday, April 15th.
Once those changes are finalized, the document would need to go back for another public hearing prior to any action being taken to refer it to the Board of Supervisors.
