Dickinson Co. ISU Extension & Outreach Holding Informational Programs

May 05, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Dickinson County has a couple of upcoming programs you may be interested in. Madeleine Smith, Youth and Ag Coordinator, says one is titled “A Journey Through Parkinson’s Disease”…

“This program’s going to help you learn and recognize symptoms of Parkinson’s; understand the causes of the disease; how treatments work; and then also explore some therapeutic activities that can be done from home and kind of help you with dealing with Parkinson’s Disease. So we’re going to have those three sessions May 11th, May 18th and May 25th from 1:00 until 2:00 pm and we’re meeting at the Bedell Family YMCA here in Spirit Lake.”

The other is ag-related. It’s titled “A Day On The Farm”…

“We have all of the different kinds of animals that our 4-H program gets to interact with at the county fair level and we have different stations for families to go around and be able to touch and talk to 4-Her’s who have shown those animals to see what does it take to raise a beef cow, or how do you train your dog to be able to do all of those cool tricks. So essentially it’s an opportunity for you to kind of go and see all of these different kinds of animals, to see what it takes to take care of them, but on top of that, at the very beginning, we are going to have a keynote speaker from the Iowa Food and Family Project that will talk while we have a free burger dinner on behalf of the Palo Alto Cattlemen.”

Pre-registration is required for the programs. You can do that and get more information by contacting ISU Extension and Outreach, Dickinson County, at 336-3488.
