(Spirit Lake)– Details into an accident west of Spirit Lake late Friday afternoon that reportedly involved several vehicles remain very sketchy.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department issued a press release this (Sunday) morning stating they were called around 3:24 pm Friday to Highway 9 just west of Indian Hills Golf Course. The release says one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles and was taken to the hospital.
The crash resulted in the eastbound lanes of Highway 9 being shut down in that area a little more than an hour late Friday afternoon.
No other details have been released. Several law enforcement agencies were on the scene. We’ve learned the Iowa State Patrol is the lead agency handling the investigation.
