(Spirit Lake)– The deadline to vote early in this coming Tuesday’s election is quickly approaching. Jordan Moyer oversees elections at the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office…
“The last day you can absentee vote is on Monday, the 7th, and that is from 8:00 to 4:30 in the Auditor’s Office. We actually have an election room and making it a little more simple for people to fill out the paperwork before they go into our room to vote.”
Moyer says the Auditor’s Office has been a busy place recently…
“With the total of mail-in ballots and people walking in we’ve had a little over 2,700 people; 1,865 have walked into our office to vote and we have mailed out 782. And luckily at this time right now we’re only waiting on 80 ballots that have not been mailed back to us.”
Moyer says the Auditor’s Office needs to have those ballots by 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 8th, in order for them to be counted.
Moyer adds that if you’re planning to vote on election day itself, you will need to do that at your respective polling site…
“We have five polling places this year. If you aren’t sure where you go to vote, you can actually go onto our website under the elections tab and their is a link there that will send you to the Secretary of State’s Office where you can actually click and put your address in and it will tell you your polling place.”
Moyer says that you can call the office or visit their website if you have any questions.
