(Spirit Lake)– The deadline for Dickinson county residents to apply for reimbursement for damages caused by heavy rains July 14th is quickly approaching. Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret says applications must be delivered to his office no later than September 21st.
The state program was requested following the extremely heavy rains that fell July 14th. The program offers grants of up to $5,000 to families with incomes at or below twice the federal poverty index. The program is launched with a governor’s declaration at the request of local officials.
More information on the program, including program guidelines, can be found at www.dhs.iowa.gov and click on the storm help link; or call 1-800-434-4692.
Those planning to drop off applications should call the Dickinson County Emergency Management office at 336-3987 to set up an appointment.
