(Spirit Lake)– An electrical problem has been cited as the cause of a blaze Monday that destroyed a maintenance building at Cutty’s on the northwest side of West Lake Okoboji.
That word from Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch, who says an investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s Office made that determination after visiting the site this (Tuesday) morning. Kollasch says it was determined the blaze started in or near the main electrical breaker panel located in an upper loft area. From there officials Kollasch says the fire spread quickly from east to west across wood rafters.
Spirit Lake firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 1:00 p.m. Monday and found the building completely engulfed.
Firefighters from Milford, Lake Park, Arnolds Park/Okoboji and Superior helped haul water to the scene.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
Damages could reach 200-thousand dollars.
