Crews Make Good Progress On Lower Gar Project

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Good progress is being made on a project to install two additional culverts that are six inches over the height of the weir at the Lower Gar Outlet.

Dickinson County Engineer Dan Eckert told the board of supervisors Tuesday good progress is being made in spite of the recent cold and snow.

Eckert says the project as of Tuesday was about 70 percent complete. He expects the road that passes over the outlet, 230th Avenue, to be re-opened to traffic in a couple of weeks.

Eckert added there’s been a minor complication with one of the culverts that has a slight bow in the bottom of it, resulting in it being fractionally higher. He says they require it be ground down, but he says any impact it has on water flow would be extremely small.

Christianson Brothers of Cherokee is the general contractor on the $357,000 project.
