Crash Seriously Injures Estherville Man

April 13, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– An Estherville man was seriously injured late this (Friday) afternoon in a single vehicle crash southeast of Milford.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 65-year-old Robert Houseman of Estherville lost control of a 1968 Chevrolet pickup while traveling westbound in the 2500 mile of 260th Street. Deputies say the vehicle left the road and went into the south ditch. It then rolled into a field, ejecting Houseman.

Houseman was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with incapacitating injuries. He was then airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The vehicle was totaled.

Authorities say they learned of the accident a little after 3:30 pm after getting notification of an iPhone detection of a crash.

The Milford Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Milford Fire and Rescue, and ambulances from Lakes Regional Healthcare and Terril assisted on the scene.
