(Spencer)– A Spirit Lake woman sustained minor injuries and faces charges in connection with a single-vehicle crash early Thursday in Clay county.

The Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Cortney Rutter was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina northbound in the 3000 mile of 240th Avenue when she lost control. The vehicle went into the east ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its top.

Rutter was treated at Spencer Hospital for minor injuries.

She was cited for failure to maintain control. Authorities say an additional charge of operating while intoxicated is pending the outcome of toxicology results.

The vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damage.

The crash took place around 2:30 a.m.
