Crash On West Side Of Spirit Lake Sends Woman To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake woman was hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash late Monday morning on the city’s west side.

Spirit Lake police say 84-year-old Marjorie Vander Linden of Spirit Lake was eastbound on a frontage road near Plumb Supply when she lost control of a 2004 Toyota Camry.

Police say the vehicle left the road and collided with a light pole…breaking it off. It continued on, striking a tree and a large fountain before finally coming to rest.

Vander Linden was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no word on her condition or nature of injuries.

Three thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle she was driving; damage to the light pole, tree and fountain was estimated at 10-thousand dollars.

The crash took place shortly after 11:00 a.m.
