Crash Of Single-Engine Plane In O’Brien County Claims Three Lives

November 22, 2014

(Sheldon)– A plane crash near Sheldon has claimed several lives.

Tony Molinaro, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, says the Piper 28, a small single-engine aircraft, went down around 11:00 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning.

Molinaro confirms three people died in the crash.

He says the plane, built in 1968, was owned by a Milton, Wisconsin man, but he couldn’t confirm if that man was on board when the plane went down.

Molinaro says a flight plan hadn’t been filed by the plane’s pilot and it wasn’t immediately known where the plane was flying from or its destination.

Allen Schuknecht, Chief Deputy with the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, says the plane crashed in a field and wound up partially on its top.

Strong wind was in the area at the time, but it isn’t known if that played a role in the crash.
