Crash Near Spencer Injures Hartley Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a single-vehicle crash last week near Spencer that injured a Hartley man.

Troopers say 85-year-old Reinhard Hibbing of Hartley was eastbound on County Road B-14 about two miles east of Highway 71 when he suffered a medical condition causing him to miss a curve. The 2007 Honda Accord he was driving left the road and collided with a telephone junction box before coming to rest in the ditch.

Hibbing was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

$4,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle; the telephone box sustained an estimated $250 in damage.

The crash took place shortly after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
