(Lake Park)– A two-vehicle crash just west of the Lake Park turn-off on Highway nine this (Mon.) morning claimed the life of an Ocheyedan woman.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Sam Kweme of Houston, Texas was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup westbound when he lost control. The vehicle went into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by 27-year-old Tanya Nagel of Ocheyedan.
Both Kweme and Nagel had to be extricated from their vehicles.
Kweme was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with serious injuries. Nagel was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the collision remains under investigation.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Spirit Lake and Lake Park ambulances; Iowa State Patrol; Lake Park and Spirit Lake fire departments; and the Spirit Lake Police Department.
