Crash Near Grand Ave., 12th St. In Spencer Results In Minor Injuries, Charges Against Driver

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A crash early Sunday in Spencer involving a vehicle and a fence just north of the intersection of Grand Avenue and 12th Street resulted in minor injuries and several charges being filed against the driver.

Spencer police say 29-year-old Jessica Altenburg of Spencer was southbound in the outer lane in the 1200 block of Grand Avenue when she struck the curb. Officers say Altenburg then over-corrected and veered off the roadway where she collided with and went over a fence on the west side of the road.

Altenburg and a passenger were both injured but refused immediate treatment.

3,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe Altenburg was driving. A fence and guard rail owned by Neal Conover sustained an estimated two thousand dollars in damage.

Altenburg was cited for operating while intoxicated, driving while suspended and failure to maintain control.

The crash took place shortly after 2:00 a.m.
