Crash Involving Multiple Truck-Semi Tractors Claims A Life

January 24, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Storm Lake)– A Storm Lake man died as part of a crash that involved three truck-tractor vehicles just southeast of Storm Lake Tuesday evening.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened at around 7:40pm Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 71 and Highway 7/C-65. 63-year-old Humberto Aladro-Valdes of Storm Lake was driving a Mack Truck westbound on Highway 7. 56-year-old Cedric Patterson of Roxie, Mississippi was driving a Freightliner northbound on Highway 71. The 3rd vehicle, a Volvo, was traveling southbound on Highway 71.

Troopers say Aladro-Valdes failed to stop at the intersection and struck the Freightliner, which continued northbound, and the Freighliner’s trailer sideswiped the trailer of the Volvo. Aladro-Valdes was ejected from the Mack Truck and died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
