Crash In Osceola County Injures Man

(Sibley)—The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office has released details into a two-vehicle collision last Wednesday that sent one person to the hospital.

Authorities say 48-year-old Paul Engelkes of Rushmore, Minnesota was driving a 1998 Chevrolet southbound on Nettle Avenue, about four miles southwest of Sibley, and 41-year-old Christina Matthieson of Ocheyedan was driving a 2002 Ford westbound on 200th Street. Authorities say Matthieson failed to stop at a stop sign, broadsiding the vehicle driven by Engelkes. Engelkes had to be extricated from his vehicle by Sibley Fire and Rescue. He was transported by ambulance to the Osceola Community Hospital.

Matthieson was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

Damage to the Ford driven by Matthieson was estimated at $4,000 whiel the Chevrolet Engelkes was driving sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage.

The collision took place shortly after 8:00 a.m.
