Crash Claims Life Of NW Iowa Man

September 19, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Rock Valley)– A single vehicle crash Sunday in Sioux county claimed the life of a northwest Iowa man.

The Iowa State Patrol says 25-year-old Reyes Felipe Lopez-Lopez of Rock Valley was driving a 2009 Mercury Mariner westbound on County Road B-40 when the vehicle left the road and went into the north ditch. Troopers say it then vaulted a culvert and struck an embankment.

Lopez-Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, 32-year-old Marco Vincio Lopez-Lopez and a three-year-old child, were taken by ambulance to the Sioux Center hospital and were transferred by air to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Troopers say the crash is still under investigation, but it’s believed alcohol may have been a contributing factor. It happened around 6:20 am.
