(Spencer)– 12 community and business leaders from the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development area are packing their bags for the corridor’s annual trip to Washington, D.C.
Kathy Evert, President of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, tells KUOO news they once again this year will be lobbying the local congressional delegation on a number of important local issues. They include the re-building of Highway 86 between Highway nine and the Minnesota border, dredging of Storm Lake, a 30 million dollar project to separate sanitary and storm sewer systems in Spencer, infrastructure funding for a new industrial park on the east side of Spencer, and Evert says they’ll be seeking support for applications the city of Superior has filed with the USDA for funding for a wastewater treatment facility.
This marks the fourth year for the corridor’s trip to the nation’s capital. Evert says they do have proof the trips are worth the effort and money. She sites success in the past in securing funding for various projects they had lobbied for.
The delegation leaves Wednesday and returns late Friday.
