(Spencer)—The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is reminding area students about its sixth annual Entrepreneurship Academy being held July 8-12th at the Spencer campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
The academy is open to high school students from Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties. The program is instructed by local entrepreneurs. It teaches students how to turn a hobby into a business and focuses on how to start a business. Students will also learn how to write a business plan and create their own business cards and flyers. They’ll also put together a power point presentation to present to a panel of judges and will compete for cash prizes at the end of the week.
The course is open to students who have completed 6th-8th grades. The cost is $49. Transportation will be provided for students outside of Spencer. Scholarships are also available.
Enrollment and additional information can be obtained by contacting the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation at 712-264-3474 or by going to www.lakescorridor.com. Applications will be accepted until the camp is full.
