Milford –
The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation unveiled its Stategic Economic Development plan for the next four years at the Milford Community Center on Wednesday. Board of Directors’ Chairman Bill Bumgarner presented the overview of the plan, which is titled Connect, Collaborate and Compete. He noted that the Corridor group is taking a multi-layered approach in the aggressive 4 year proposal, with a special focus on increasing the workforce and housing options in the area.
Corridor CEO Kathy Evert recapped the success of the past 4 years, and noted that many of the goals had been met or surpassed, including the creation of new jobs and new company starts. She added that the group had surpassed their capital investment goals during the last campaign.
Evert introduced several participants who have partnered with the Corridor group, who in turn shared their experiences. It was also noted that the Corridor partnered with the Okoboji Foundation earlier this year, resulting in the establishment of the Entrepreneurial Development Endowment Fund.
The new campaign for 2013-2016 is being led by four co-chairs from each of the four counties served by the Iowa Lakes Corridor: John Cotton of Clay County, Curt Johnson of Dickinson County, Pat Reno of Buena Vista County and Ron Smith of Emmet County. The co-chairs announced that investors have already committed over $1 million dollars over the next four years.
