(Storm Lake)– The theft of a hoody from a Storm Lake convenience store early this (Fri.) morning landed two people in jail.
Police were called shortly after 12:00 a.m. to a Casey’s General Store in Storm Lake after getting a report of someone who removed a tag from a camouflage hoody and took the hoody from the store without paying for it. Police say the suspect was with two other people and that all three had entered the store at the same time. All three fled the scene in a vehicle. Police were given the vehicle description and a license plate number. They stopped it a short time later and made contact with the driver, 37-year-old Juan Carlose Munuia-De la Rosa of Aurelia. Upon investigating police determined Munuia-De la Rosa was intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with operated while intoxicated…2nd offense, and no valid driver’s license. He was booked into the Buena Vista county jail on a $2,300 cash bond.
Upon further investigation, police determined the suspect who allegedly stole the hoody had been dropped off at a Storm Lake apartment complex. Police arrived at the complex shortly before 1:00 a.m. and arrested the suspect in a hallway. He’s identified as 25-year-old Francisco Javier Ortiz Mireles of Spencer. Police say Mireles had the stolen property in his possession when they made contact with him. He was arrested and charged with theft in the 5th degree and public intoxication. Mireles was booked into the Buena Vista county jail on a $600 cash bond.
