Controlled Burn Becomes Uncontrolled; About 8 Acres Go Up In Smoke

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– What started off Tuesday as a controlled burn near Milford wound up becoming uncontrolled, burning about eight acres of land on a grassy hillside near a residence.

Shane Langholz of the Milford Fire Department says firefighters were called to 2365 213th Avenue shortly after 3:30 p.m. Upon arriving he says they determined a pile of burning rubbish had gotten out of control.

While firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to a nearby home, it did burn some farm equipment. An estimated dollar amount of the loss wasn’t immediately available.

Milford firefighters were on the scene about an hour and-a-half.

No injuries were reported.
