(Lake Park)– Construction of the new Harris-Lake Park Elementary School continues at a brisk pace. In fact, Superintendent Mike Thompson tells KUOO news the progress is ahead of schedule and is even nearing substantial completion…
“We’re really pleased with the progress that we’ve had so far. We’ve had a wonderful fall weatherwise which has really helped with all the exterior work, and we are running a little ahead of schedule. Our move in date hasn’t changed, that will still be in March for students, but in terms of substantial completion that’s looking to be the first of the year or a little after.”
Thompson adds there’s also good news on the financial front…
“Things are coming in actually a little under budget in a couple of areas which is nice, and everything else is coming together, so we’re just pleased with Hoogendorn, our general contractor. They’re really great to work with, and just appreciate all the subcontractors all of the other folks that are helping us out. It’s coming together well.”
Voters in the Harris-Lake Park Community School District approved an 18.6 million dollar bond issue for the project in November, 2023. It also includes some renovations to the middle school-high school building.
