November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The congregation of a long-time lakes area church has voted unanimously to purchase ground on which to construct a new church.

Pastor, Reverend Dr. Sarah Rohret of the Calvary United Methodist Church tells KUOO news they’re purchasing 5.1 acres of land on the south side of Arnolds Park, or just north of Oleson Landscaping…(click here for comment from Pastor Sarah.)

A timeframe for the project hasn’t been established yet…(click here for comment from Pastor Sarah.)

The existing church and parsonage were constructed in 1927…(click here for comment from Pastor Sarah.)

Pastor Rohret, or “Pastor Sarah” as many in the congregation refer to her, says a capital campaign will be getting underway in late July.

She added the church will still have its annual auction June 23rd.

The United Methodist Church has had a presence in Arnolds Park that dates back to the Spirit Lake Massacre.
